Woman Confesses to Killing Husband with Machete and Attacking Neighbors
A harrowing incident has sent shockwaves through Delta State as a 30-year-old woman has confessed to the brutal killing of her husband using a machete. The suspect, whose identity is currently being withheld by authorities, attributed her violent outburst to “uncontrolled anger,” a lapse in judgment that has left her husband dead, two other women fighting for their lives in the hospital, and her own children displaced.
The Gruesome Incident: Five Machete Blows
According to the confession made while in police custody, the suspect admitted to striking her husband five times with a machete. The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, released a video detailing the chilling sequence of events. In the footage, the woman is heard stating, “Na anger make me kill my husband with the machete. I machete am five times.”
The violence, however, did not stop with her husband. After committing the act, the woman allegedly attempted to lure and harm others in what appears to be a calculated yet frenzied trail of violence.
A Trail of Violence: Attacks on Neighbors
The details provided by SP Bright Edafe paint a terrifying picture of the suspect’s actions following the murder. After killing her husband, she reportedly sent her own child to call a neighbor. When the unsuspecting neighbor arrived and opened the door, the suspect immediately attacked her with the same blood-stained machete.
Following this second attack, the suspect took her two children and moved to another woman’s house on their street. Using a hammer she had picked up, she deceived the second neighbor, claiming her husband was beating her twelve-year-old son to lure the woman out. When the neighbor came to help, the suspect struck her on the head with the hammer. The victim was repeatedly hit until her screams alerted bystanders, who eventually intervened, captured the suspect, and rescued the bleeding woman.
Current Status of the Victims
As of the latest reports, the husband has been confirmed dead. The two neighbors who were caught in the crossfire of the suspect’s rage are currently in critical condition at a local hospital. SP Edafe showcased the weapons used in the crime—a machete stained with blood and a hammer—during the police briefing, emphasizing the severity of the domestic tragedy.
Regret and Displaced Children
Now in police custody, the suspect has expressed deep remorse for her actions, though the damage is irreversible. “I feel very bad. I don’t know where my children are now,” she lamented. The incident has left her young children without a father and with a mother facing the full weight of the law, highlighting the devastating collateral damage of domestic violence and mental health crises.
